Why do you use an ePortfolio?
Other than the fact that it is something that my ADL Program requires, I enjoy using a ePortofilo for the same reason I like watching videos on how things are made. I love watching things go from being relatively nothing to something that is truly remarkable. I want to use my ePortofilo for that very reason - to observe how my limited skills evolve and develop into something entirely new and different. I hope to be able to look back and trace all the twists and turns in my journey.
I have learned some important things about how to set up my portfolio. I used to think it was better to open my links in new tabs, but I didn't realize that this would remove the function of the back button and could cause someone to overload their browser with too many tabs. Now that someone pointed it out, it seems obvious that these things could cause problems, but I didn't think about them before.
My first ever blog post was my Innovation Proposal. I can't wait to one day look back at it and see how it turned into reality. For a clear overview of the beginning of my Innovation plan, I will refer to my Project Summary. That page also holds my first attempts ever at a call-to-action video.
Recently I wrote a blog titled The Power of Perspective. This blog is a response to a reading I did in my class, "Creating Significant Learning Environments". The book, A New Culture of Learning: Cultivating the Imagination for a World of constant change by Douglas Thomas and John Seely Brown really helped me to feel confident in my view of how important play is for students learning. It also taught me that I am not talented enough to write an argument with only an audiobook. I struggled to organize my thoughts until I actually used the hard copy.
I'm excited about what this course has to bring and what I will be able to do. I always like to have goals so listed below are a few of my goals for the next year.
Goal 1: Successfully pilot my campus's first full STEAM program.
Goal 2: Earn my mastered degree in Applied Digital Learning with Lamar
Goal 3: Becoming a strong technological advocate for my teachers and students.
I wonder where I will be in a year. We shall see.
